“Li-Ho!” (This translates to “hello” in Taiwanese.) That is one of Mike Loree’s CPBL catches since the 2012 season. That was the first thing Mike Loree said at the news conference.

Mike Loree, 37, of the Fubon Guardians, announced his retirement from baseball on August 20 in order to spend more time with his family back home.

“After I arrived here this season, I realized how much I missed my family and how much I wanted to spend every day with my wife and kids,” Mike Loree said. “At first, I assumed those feelings would go away once I got back to my normal routine, but they didn’t, and that’s when I began thinking about retiring.”

According to the club, the 10-year CPBL veteran will play his last game on September 2 and then depart Taiwan in mid-September.

“Mike Loree is more than simply a foreign player; he is also a buddy,” the Guardians’ general manager remarked. “We will keep in contact with him and will not rule out future collaboration, whether as an international scout or as a guest coach.”

“Of course, if Mike Loree decides to come out of retirement, the team will still welcome him back,” the Guardians GM said.

“I’d want to thank the fans for their continued support throughout the years.” “I am quite thankful for that,” Mike Loree stated. “I like playing for the Guardians and working with my teammates.” I’ve had a great time playing in the CPBL and living in Taiwan for the last 10 years.”

Mike Loree was asked at the conclusion of the press conference if he had anything he wanted to say to his wife and children. Loree, fighting back tears, stated to the camera, “I love you guys, and I will see you guys soon.”

Mike Loree has a 2.35 ERA and 1.02 WHIP over 46 innings in the 2022 CPBL season as of August 20.

He has a career ERA of 3.32 over 237 games and 1482.1 innings since 2012. Loree also collected 33.36 WAR, which ranked him second all-time among CPBL pitchers.
